Wedge Waddle What?

The Wedge Waddle is an annual 3-mile walk/run/waddle around the South Wedge neighborhood on Thanksgiving morning. It encourages friends and family to meet, mingle, and get a bit of exercise as a new Thanksgiving tradition. The event also encourages participants to bring donations of new socks for St. Joseph’s Hospitality House (socks are one of the least-donated but most-needed clothing items in homeless shelters). The event is free, open to the public, and registration is free!

Origin story: Years ago, the folks at the Hungry Hedonist Social Club thought it would be a fun idea to hold a Thanksgiving event to get folks out of their beds, meeting their neighbors and pets, and waddling around on turkey day. The waddlers braved the snow and frigid temperatures, waddling their way around the Wedge — up Mount Hope and back down South Avenue — before gathering around to enjoy hot cider and awesome peeps.

We hope that you’ll come waddle with us!
